Beverly is one of the largest continuous historic districts in the nation, where the trees are mature, lots are oversized and homes are grand. As for recreation, school sports are very popular for the youngsters, and Beverly is situated several miles from Lake Michigan to the east, and about 10 miles to one of the largest trail systems for walking, horses, tobogganing, cross country skiing and mountain biking. The Palos trails are comprised of 25 Square miles of trees, forest, small lakes, and even a camping ground with cabins and some of the best sunsets you can see from high points of the Ridge. This entire south side area was part of the prehistoric glacial formation and greatly benefits from many ridges still remaining here.

Beverly has great restaurants and gift shops and is home to Chicago is very own Givens Castle. The town was formed by railroad magnates during the roaring 1920s when homes were built by famous architects, which may have been drawn to the area after the fire.  Many of those homes for owned by railroad executives, which were drawn to the area by work in some of the homes were for summer and recreation.
